Coupon Code Tracking

Introduction

Coupon code tracking, also known as linkless code tracking, is a feature that tracks affiliate sales without needing a click. For it to work, an advertiser offers you, the publisher, an exclusive coupon code. The exclusive code acts like an affiliate tracking link, allowing Rakuten to know when you drove a conversion so we can commission you accordingly.

 Success Tip

Coupon codes are perfect for publishers who work in video, podcasts, or social media platforms and can give out a code for their audience to use.

Getting Started

To take advantage of coupon codes with a specific advertiser, you must be partnered with that advertiser. Visit your advertiser’s program page in the dashboard to identify coupons available to you:

  1. Go to Advertisers in the navigation header and click My Advertisers.
  2. Click on a specific advertiser to view their information.
  3. Click the Features and Services tab and scroll down to Coupon commissioning rules.
  4. There you can see:
    • Any coupon codes available to you.
    • Current status of the code. Active codes can generate conversions now.
    • Details, including when the commissioning window begins and ends.

Bulk Uploads

When working with a large number of codes, advertisers have the option to upload the codes in a .txt or .csv file in bulk. Advertisers will need to share these files directly with you.

 Note

Use our Coupon Feed API to find your advertiser's coupons.

Coupon Code and Conversion Click

We will honor a click if it is present and it will be used before a coupon to attribute to a transaction. The code will work if the user has only used the exclusive code and has not clicked through another publisher’s link within the return day window.
